What you can Expect to Pay for Cooled Shipped Semen

You will need to have a competent equine reproduction veterinarian to check your mare and manage her heat cycles.  Unless she is a maiden mare, she will need to have a uterine culture.  You can expect to have your mare ultrasounded several times to pinpoint ovulation.  Your veterinarian may want to use hCG or GnRH to help her ovulate in a timely manner to avoid another shipment of semen.  If she has a positive uterine culture, she may need uterine infusions post breeding.  You mare can be ultrasounded for pregnancy at 14-16 days.  If your mare is pregnant, she should be checked again at 25 days to observe the fetus heartbeat.  It is important to check your mare to make sure she is not carrying twins and to make sure the embryo looks normal.  She should be checked again at 35 and 45 days.

The semen shipment fee includes the cost of collecting, evaluating, processing, and shipping the semen.  When shipping semen from a fertile stallion, most properly managed mares get in foal with the first shipment.  At Oasis Ranch, Inc. we always try to ship two doses of semen that can be used on consecutive days.  We always ship at least the industry standard dose of 1 Billion progressively motile spermatozoa per dose.

If you choose to ship semen with a disposable container, it is yours to keep.  You may send it back in case you need another shipment and, as long as it is clean, we can reuse it for your next shipment.  If you choose to use an Equitainer or Plastilite shipper, we must have your credit card number on file.  You must return the Equitainer or Plastilite immediately, with all parts intact,  via 2nd Day Air, to avoid additional daily rental charges.

Mares in the show barn will be exercised daily, blanketed and groomed.  Mares in the Mare Barn will be bedded on shavings and exercised as time and weather allow.  Foaling mares will be bedded on straw.  Mares in Individual Outside Pens will not have bedding, but will have natural dirt.  All mares will be fed a diet of alfalfa and/or grass hay with grain as needed.  All mares will have fresh water and access to a salt block.  Stalls and pens are cleaned 6 days a week and supervised 24hours a day 7 days a week..
